Human Trafficking: Identifying and Responding to Victims in the Healthcare Setting

Hosted by: National Criminal Justice Training Center

A 2017 survey report from the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) found that over half of labor and sex trafficking survivors had accessed health care at least once while being trafficked. Nearly 97% indicated that they had never been provided with information or resources about human trafficking while visiting the health care provider. This webinar will present strategies to equip healthcare professionals to identify and appropriately assist trafficked persons with victim-centered, trauma-informed care and services.

Upon completion of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Recognize and communicate with trafficked persons in the healthcare setting using best practices learned.
  • Improve healthcare responses through education and staff training.
  • Leverage strategies for coordinating with law enforcement and victim service providers.
